Hanover Labyrinth of Distinction Nominations
The Town of Hanover is accepting nominations for the Labyrinth of Distinction. The Labyrinth of Distinction is a permanent commemorative feature located in Hanover’s downtown Heritage Square. Nominations will be accepted until February 28, 2026.
The Labyrinth of Distinction recognizes individuals whose exceptional accomplishments, dedication, and contributions have positively influenced the community and/or society at large. Inductions are considered on a biennial basis. An engraved paver stone is positioned in the plaza area of the Heritage Square Labyrinth in honour of the inductee nominated and approved by Hanover Council.
Members of the community are encouraged to submit nominations for individuals whose accomplishments merit this distinguished recognition. Each nomination must include a completed nomination form and relevant supporting information.
Induction into the Labyrinth of Distinction is regarded as a significant honour, celebrating individuals who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and lasting impact. The Labyrinth is intended to honour and preserve the legacy of those whose efforts have brought pride, distinction, and recognition to the Hanover community, ensuring their contributions are remembered and appreciated by future generations.
Nominations are accepted in two categories:
Community Builders
This category recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and long-term impact in areas such as Health and Academics, Industry and Business, and Community Service. These individuals are recognized for shaping or strengthening Hanover through their leadership, vision, innovation, or strategic influence over an extended period of time.
Personal Achievements and Accomplishments
This category includes individuals involved in politics, sports, or the arts who, through exceptional ability, commitment, and achievement, have earned distinction and brought pride and recognition to themselves and the Hanover community.
Nomination forms and detailed criteria are available through the Parks, Recreation and Culture Office, at the Hanover Municipal Office, or online at https://www.hanover.ca/history-heritage
